![]() The mom had the balls to complain that the movie was too scary for him. I stopped whole class parties right then and do fancier stuff with fewer kids now.Ī few months later, another classmate had a party at the theater and they were watching a PG movie and of course the 4-yo was dropped off too. And naturally he had a massive meltdown at some point because he wasn't as good as the other kids who were 5 years older than him, wanted help going to the bathroom, and was completely needy and immature for his age. ![]() You have to pay PER KID for the bowling so even though I had 2x the food needed thanks to my midwestern hosting anxiety (godforbid you run out of food), I had to pay for this kid I didn't know to bowl with a bunch of kids who didn't know him. Didn't give a heads up or anything, just dropped both kids off at the curb and left. We had a bowling party for one of my kids who was a third grader and a parent dropped off their 4yo with their third grader. She was remotely deemed one of our chaperones with principal approval. Thank goodness one of my teacher buddies that was chaperoning with me had arranged for his wife to drive down separately with their kids and join us for the weekend. I'm standing there with 80 kids getting on the bus, and now I'm short a female chaperone that is required for us to go and they didn't think it was important to mention this to me. Finally the dad said, "Oh, she wasn't feeling well so she decided to just go home and not come after all." It was 7am, we were loading buses and taking attendance and the mom, who had previously been there, was nowhere to be found. However, one time a mom and dad were coming together. In a decade, they've almost all been great. To be clear, I bring other teachers as well, but when I have 80 kids and need 10 adults, I can't make all 10 of those adults teachers (too many subs to find!), so I need parents to pitch in. I run multiple overnight trips every school year and rely on parents volunteering to chaperone. r/ECEProfessionals: early childhood education Share and discuss educational techologies that can support and improve teaching and learning. ![]() Share and discover teaching resources, including lessons, demos, blogs, simulations, and visual aids.
